Efforts Align With Governor Hochul’s 2024 State of the State Announcement to Plant 25 Million Trees Across New York State by 2033  

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that New York State agencies and partners will celebrate a series of stewardship days to help enhance parks, historic sites and public lands. Service projects during four events held throughout the year will raise awareness and visibility of the state’s many outdoor recreation assets and their needs during the Love Our New York Lands Stewardship Days.

New York, NY (March 26, 2024) — Talented young singers from the Mater Dei High School Choir from California, conducted by Jodi Reed, and the local Westchester Children's Choir (WCChorus), conducted by Amanda Gundling and Jennifer Giustino, are showcasing their vocal prowess at the renowned David Geffen Hall this April.

Iroquois Museum - New Education RoomHowes Cave, N.Y. - The Iroquois Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the new Nicholas J. Juried Education Room on April 4 the day the Museum opens for its 43rd season. This is the first expansion at the museum building since its opening in 1992. Philanthropist Nick Juried awarded the Iroquois Museum the monies to enclose its rear porch to create this new 560-square-foot space. …

National Museum of Racing and Hall of FameSaratoga Springs, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is partnering with seven Saratoga County farms for exclusive behind-the-scenes tours. The Museum’s farm tour series kicks off Saturday, April 27, at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds. There will be a total of eight tours — including a special visit to Old Tavern Farm during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival — with the series concluding in October.

NYS Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation 100Staatsburg, N.Y. — Staatsburgh’s founder, Governor Morgan Lewis, enslaved people of African descent at his estate in Staatsburg, New York. Yet, when his great-granddaughter, Ruth Livingston Mills, lived at Staatsburgh at the turn of the 20th century, the staff was exclusively White and of European descent. Staatsburgh State Historic Site is offering a free, one-hour program, “Slavery, Segregation & Staatsburgh” in-person on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m. and via Zoom on Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m. The program is free, but reservations are required

Schweinfurth Spring Break Art CampAuburn, NY (March 27, 2024) – Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn is accepting registrations for its Spring Break Art Camp for teens, “There’s Been a Mixup.” A separate morning camp for students 6 to 10 is full. Campers will explore the work of artists Aminah Robinson, Sanford Biggers, Charles McGee, Sheila Hicks, and Madam Mavis from Ghana Africa’s Global Mamas, and use those artists’ creations as inspiration for their own art. Students will experiment with batik, quilting, weaving, hand sewing, and painting, and embellish their work with beads, buttons, and found objects.
