NYS Parks, Recreation, Historic Preservation Staatsburg, N.Y. (March 30, 2020) – To reduce density and encourage social distancing at Hudson Highlands State Park/Breakneck Ridge, the following park restrictions are in place indefinitely due to COVID-19:

• The Scenic Hudson parking lot and trailhead at Mount Beacon is closed • The Metro-North parking area near Breakneck is closed; parallel parking along its edge is available

• Parking spaces along Route 9D in Fishkill (north of the tunnel to Breakneck lot) will be reduced and all parking will be converted to parallel parking in order to reduce density

• The Chalet parking lot is closed • Parking spaces along Route 9D South of Breakneck will be reduced…

Penguin ChicksBronx, NY (March 26, 2020) – The development of two little blue penguin chicks (Eudyptula minor) hatched at the Bronx Zoo in February can be tracked on Instagram and Facebook while the zoo is temporarily closed to the public due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

With these two chicks, the Bronx Zoo little blue penguin colony now includes 16 birds. Last year, seven penguins from the New England Aquarium were brought to the zoo for breeding. The full story of the penguins’ move and integration with the colony will be featured on the fourth season of Animal Planet’s THE ZOO which will premiere on Saturday, April 4 at 9pm ET/PT.
