We Are NYFair's Newest Addition Recognizes Contributions, History and Experiences of Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Cultures
Asian Village joins Indian Village, Pan African Village and Latino Village as Fairgrounds Destinations to Celebrate and Experience the Diverse Cultures of New Yorkers  

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the addition of Asian Village to the Great New York State Fair. Asian Village — which will run from Opening Day on Wednesday, August 23, through the first Saturday, August 26 — will recognize the contributions, history, and experiences of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities through music, dance, food, and a number of other special events. Asian Village joins Indian Village, Pan African Village, and Latino Village in providing opportunities for fairgoers to experience the many backgrounds and cultures that make New Yorkers diverse and unique.

Peterboro, N.Y. – The Hamlet of Peterboro NY will open its three day Peterboro Freedom Festival: Juneteenth Weekend on Saturday, June 17th at 2 pm at the Smithfield Community Center, 5255 Pleasant Valley Road, Peterboro NY 13134 with Authors for Freedom. Karol Kucinski, Co-Chair NAHOF Hall and Museum Committee, will introduce the four writers and their books which are at various stages of publication and which have connections to Peterboro and to the quest for freedom.

Neversink River Resort BoathouseDeerpark, NY (May 2023) — Upstate New York’s newest destination for outdoor and camping enthusiasts, Neversink River Resort, has begun welcoming guests – just in time for the summer season. 

An hour and a half from New York City, Neversink River Resort is the brainchild of hospitality company Team Outsider and design agency Time Studio, who set about to create a relaxed and stylish campground that bridges the gap between rugged camping and high-end retreats. Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association SCVASullivan County, NY (May 23, 2023) - The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association (SCVA) is pleased to announce the addition of a new dove to the Sullivan Catskills Dove Trail. The dove, which is located at Arthur’s Acres Animal Sanctuary, is the 63rd dove to be added to the trail.

The Sullivan Catskills Dove Trail, with continued support from Sullivan 180, is a self-guided art tour that takes visitors to over 60 unique dove sculptures located throughout Sullivan County. The doves were created by a variety of artists, and each one is a unique work of art.

Tupper Lake Tinman TriathlonTupper Lake, NY (May 25, 2023) – The Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon will take place on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 8 a.m. Established in 1983, the race welcomes approximately 700 participants each year.

According to Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism’s (ROOST) Tupper Lake Marketing Manager Katie LaLonde, Tinman is one of the summer’s most popular events. "We are thrilled to once again host the Tinman Triathlon in Tupper Lake," she commented. "The event has become a staple in our summer calendar, and we look forward to welcoming participants and spectators from all over the country to our beautiful corner of the Adirondacks."…

Utica, N.Y. – Dive into Oneida Lake and Sylvan Beach history with author and local expert Jack Henke who will talk about "The Beach" during its heyday, sharing fun facts and photos from the past. Henke is the author of four books about Oneida Lake history, including From “The Beach” to Brewerton: Stories of Oneida Lake, and Oneida Lake: “The Only Happiness” Place Names and History.

Second Annual Grass Volleyball Pride FestivalThe one-day volleyball tournament will take place at Eisenhower Park and raise proceeds for PFY, a Long Island-based LGBTQ+ center

East Meadow, N.Y.  (May 25, 2022) -- After a successful debut, the Second Annual Grass Volleyball Pride Festival, a.k.a “PrideFest,” will return on June 10 to Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY.

Hosted in June 2022 by VBLI, a Long Island-based recreational volleyball organization for teenagers and adults, the inaugural PrideFest was an all-day charity tournament that welcomed 186 volleyball enthusiasts, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies from all over the Northeastern U.S.

This is the fourth Lower East Side book crawl to take place (previously, Halloween 2021 & 2022 and Pride 2022).
