Shopping in New York State!

Shopping in New York State is BIG, everywhere you go!  Yes, New York City is the BIG fashion capital known all over the world, but no matter where you shop across the Empire State, you’ll find 'must-haves' and one-of-a-kind treasures.

Upstate, the charming streets and family-owned shops are filled with local wares and hometown treasures that often take shape in traditional arts, inspired by the beauty of nature created by local artisans and master craftsmen.  And there is no lack of mega malls or outlets for some of the best deals around!

In the Adirondacks, shop on Old Forge main street, where you’ll find everything from moccasins and jewelry to Finger Lakes wines and clothing. At St. Lawrence Centre, there are 50+ stores available, and, at The Factory Outlets of Lake George, four major shopping centers and over 70 stores are within one-half mile of where you park!

Downtown Saratoga and Albany’s spacious Empire State Plaza, Crossgates Mall and Colonie Center keep Capital District shoppers happy with premium choices in every shopping category.

Near Lake Erie you’ll find The Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls (over 150 designer outlets) and Hampshire Mills (discounted sportswear and outwear). There are plenty of vintage shops in the ‘antique mecca’ of Bloomfield Antique Country Mile, while Destiny USA in Syracuse is well worth a stop and shop.

The Antiques Center of the Hudson Valley has historic main streets lined with shops and galleries, and Woodstock and Saugerties practically invented eclectic and hip. Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets, the world’s BIGGEST collection of designer outlets, attract bargain hunters in the know, and Poughkeepsie Galleria, Dutchess County’s BIGGEST shopping center, has everything from Abercrombie & Fitch to Zales!  As you head into The Catskills, book lovers must go to Hobart Book Village (five used bookstores in one town) and stop at the BIGGEST year round indoor Farmers’ Market in Sullivan County.

Long Island is a well known destination for malls and for antique shoppers! In Southold, Locust Valley, Port Jefferson and Greenport, you’ll also discover an antique doll hospital, and seafaring treasure troves.

Then our City, New York has flagship department stores (Barneys, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman); discount shopping (Century 21); distinctive museum gift shops (Cooper-Hewitt National Design, Lower East Side Tenement, Neue Gallery and The New York Transit); and many ‘neighborhoods’ just made for browsing: SoHo, Chinatown, Lower East Side, Tribeca.

With so many choices, you should get started soon.

You CAN do it all this winter in New York State!
