Buffalo Botanical Gardens is a magical green oasis, especially in winter! Night Lights (selected dates through February 16) illuminates the interior of the Gardens with theatrical and interactive lighting to inspire your imagination and delight your senses. Medina Railroad Museum is open year-round and is one of the biggest freight depot museums in the country.

Alleyway Theatre is celebrating its 30th anniversary season and Lancaster Opera House has Beatlemagic (February 1-2), Oklahoma! (March 1-17), Comedysportz Improv (March 22-24) and many more events.

Buffalo Shea Theater has something for everyone: Blue Man Group (February 8-10); the free film series, “Kung Fu Panda” (February 17); “Dixie’s Tupperware Party” (February 26-March 10); “Elmo Makes Music” (March 6-10) and more!

Old Fort Niagara is a National Historic Landmark and NYS Historic Site. Upcoming events include “Winter Survival at Fort Niagara” (February 23) and a “Sugar Maple Walk” (March 16).

Visit Buffalo Museum of Science and their extensive collections of 700,000+ specimens and artifacts and Tifft Nature Preserve for indoor (3D Cinema, Curiosity shop) and outdoor (snowshoe rentals) adventures. The Buffalo Zoo is the third oldest zoo of its kind in the US and, at Explore and More Children’s Museum, fun and learning play together; Au-some Evenings are dedicated to children with autism spectrum disorders.

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge is 10,000+ acres BIG and one of western New York’s best-kept secrets! Its Mohawk Ski Trail is open until March 1 (when it closes for wildlife nesting season). Buffalo Ski Club is three ski areas, three lodges, and 300 acres of 43 trails.

The Annual North East Ice Tour Fishing Tournament is February 12 in Silver Lake, and don’t miss Byrncliff Resort and Conference Center’s Annual Cardboard Olympics (February 17)!

Hidden Valley Animal Adventure is rustic, yet close to Buffalo and Rochester. Take Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides (February 17, March 3) or come for special events – Maple Weekends (March 16-17 and 23-24), Sweethearts Weekend (February 14-16) and live music (February 2, 8 and 22).

Wolcott Farms has horse-drawn sleigh or wagon rides and Silver Lake is the first in New York to freeze in winter….or, try ice fishing in Parry for BIG bragging rights and fun!
