Bear Mountain, Hudson Valley
The Annual Hudson Valley Native American Heritage Festival, hosted by the Redhawk Indian Arts Council, will take place in the beautiful mountains of Harriman State Park. Over the two days of the event, more than 1,000 Native American artists, performers and educators from across North and South America will demonstrate the finest in Native American singing, dancing, drumming, flute playing and enchanting works of art. The highlight of the weekend is a dance and music competition in which the best Native American dancers and singers from North and South America compete. The audience will have the rare opportunity to view and learn about such dances as men's fancy dance, lady's jingle, northern traditional, grass dance, eastern woodlands war dances, the hoop dance, and see a special performance by the Aztec Fire Dancers of Mexico City.
