Autumn Reflections: Fun on the Water!

Across New York—from Long Island’s seaside bike trails to Great Lake Erie, waterways offer pure fun and myriad ways to enjoy our magnificent fall foliage!  Boat tours, fishing jaunts, and canoe routes take you to, and through, the season’s spectacular scenery.

Take a steamboat ride on Lake George, canoe in a legendary Catskills stream, sail on a pristine Finger Lake, or try a thrilling raft ride on the Black River near Watertown. In the Adirondacks, kayak on tranquil lakes and wild rivers or float down the ancient Ausable Chasm. Travel back in time on the Erie Canal or drop a line in Lake Ontario, world-famous for trophy fishing.  And don’t miss the awesome beauty of Niagara Falls!

Waterside museums and festivals add to the excitement. Make a splash at great events—from the giant party in New York Harbor on October 28 celebrating the Statue of Liberty’s 125th birthday, to Capital-Saratoga’s unique Waterford Tugboat Roundup on September 7 to 9, to the St. Lawrence River Walleye Association’s Fall Classic Fishing Derby on September 15 in the Thousand Islands-Seaway region.

With full colors on display and so much going on, Fall is the perfect season for a great getaway on the water in New York!
