Celebrating farming, cooking and culture in the Catskill Mountains at Cauliflower Festival, September 29. Yes, you’ll find plenty of farm-fresh cauliflower for sale, as well as hands-on kid fun, rides and a petting zoo, farm demonstrations, music and crafters.
Follow your nose to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties, September 29-30, and celebrate the harvest with music, arts and crafts, and everything garlic from garlic gardening to garlic braiding. Eighty vendors invite you to nosh your way down Food Alley past gourmet sausages, garlic soup, even garlic ice cream, while the kids explore a kid’s tent and climbing wall.
The chow keeps coming at Delhi’s Taste of the Catskills Festival at Maple Shade Farm, October 6-7, a family-friendly event showcasing the regional food, beers and wines. Farmers, food producers and restaurants will serve up dinners prepared entirely from local ingredients, paired with local spirits, and topped with a bonfire and barn dance. Learn how food travels from farm to fork in fun workshops while you taste the region, then stay for fireworks.
Hanford Mills Museum marks the site of Miller's Harvest Festival & Folkways Fair in East Meredith on October 7. The farmers’ market will offer fresh and preserved local produce while crafters and artisans do live demonstrations to lively music. Don't miss a chance to see Hanford Mills Museum's operating water-powered gristmill in action.
The party continues on October 13 when Oktoberfest returns to Belleayre, featuring music and dance by the Schwarzenegger Connection Band and Mountain Brauhaus Schuhplattlers, plus vendors and raffles, German beers, and all the bratwurst, leberkäse and sauerkraut you can eat.
Generations have shaped the wines and brews of the Hudson Valley. Sample them all during theWine, Wing & Brew Fest, October 13-14 at Hunter Mountain. Taste craft beers from favorite microbrews all across the region, as well as New York’s finest wines. It’s a tasty way to wash down special recipe hot wings and more treats from local restaurants. Skyride and zipline tours will operate, with live music and craft vendors to round out the weekend.
