Discover natural and man-made wonders in this awesome region. For a magnificent start, explore Niagara Falls State Park, named one of America’s Top 10 Most Beautiful Spots by the Today Show. Take in the views from the Top of the Falls restaurant, walk to the base of the Falls during the Cave of the Winds tour, or feel the refreshing spray during a Maid of the Mist boat ride.
Nearby, kids dress as their favorite sea creature to receive free admission to the wonderful Aquarium of Niagara's Halloween Happenings celebration October 27.
Less than 10 miles away, Lewiston’s breathtaking Whirlpool Jet Boat Tour is rated one of North America’s Top 5 Adventure Rides! On September 22 and 23, the Lewiston Harvest Festival features more than 100 craft artists as well as wine and culinary samples. The Halloween Spooktacular at Lewiston’s Niagara Power Project Visitor Center features children’s games, costume contests, a haunted house and other Halloween fun.
Don’t miss autumn’s splendor along the wondrous 17-mile-long gorge at Letchworth State Park, called the Grand Canyon of the East. Over 66 miles of hiking and biking trails weave around sparkling waterfalls, through lush forests, and between 600-foot cliffs. On October 6 to 8, over 300 art and craft exhibitors, food vendors and entertainment highlight the Letchworth Arts & Crafts Show.
The historic Arcade & Attica Railroad travels through countryside painted with the vibrant colors of autumn. Fall Foliage trips run on weekends from October 5 to 21. Halloween Haunted House trips, October 27 and 28, finish with cider and doughnuts at the haunted Curriers Depot. On a bluff above Lake Ontario, Old Fort Niagara brings history to life with military encampments and spooky events such as a Haunted Fortress on October 20 and 27.
Hustle off to Buffalo on the last Saturday in November to dance the night away at the annual World’s Largest Disco. Thousands groove at this Retro party listed as one of the Top 5 events in the US by Party Across America. This beautiful waterfront city features architectural wonders like Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House, opulent theaters, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
The food is wonderful too, from the famous Buffalo Wings at the Anchor Bar, to farm markets and harvest celebrations like the Pumpkin Fiesta at Becker Farms & Vizcarra Vineyards in Gasport that celebrates Halloween every weekend in October. The Great Pumpkin Farm Fall Festival, is held in Clarence September 22 to October 31.
