If you like to go to extremes, winter's an ideal time and New York's the place for you! Hike or backcountry ski the trails around the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. It's a wonderful way to challenge yourself and get exercise while viewing spectacular winter scenery. Scale the heights of adventure with ice climbing. Ascend the frozen waterfall at Chapel Pond near Keene, or try one of the popular ice climbing areas off Route 28 near hunter Mountain. There are several excellent guide services located within New York State to help ensure a fun, safe adventure.
