Visitors familiar with the Lake George area, in New York State’s Adirondack Region, often think of it as a place for summer sun and fun.  They are right; but, there is so much more that they may be missing.

With no experience needed, visitors can take a guided snowshoe hike with a naturalist at Up Yonda Farm Environmental Education Center in Bolton Landing.  The Lake George Winter Carnival offers outdoor enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy snowmobile races, a polar golf tournament, IWPA dog pulls, a giant ice slide and special weekend events.  Ice fishing is also a popular sport in the Lake George area.  Anglers can fish for Northern Pike, Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon from mid-January through mid-February, while Jack Perch is the catch of choice after mid-February.

Other popular activities during the winter months include cross-country skiing, ice skating and snow tubing.
