Giant pumpkin weigh-off at the Great Pumpkin Farm |
Harvest and Haunts in the Greater Niagara region
There’s no place quite like the
Greater Niagara Region to take in the tastes, sights and aromas of the fall season!
Harvest & Haunts is a collection of fall festivals that are full of family fun events.
Everyone has their favorite thing about the fall season. Perhaps it’s leaf peeping at beautiful
fall foliage,
picking pumpkins at the pumpkin patch or apple picking in the orchard. Maybe it’s the
haunted houses,
hay rides, ghost walks and the corn mazes you can get lost in for hours!
If it’s festivals that you love, the Greater Niagara Region has no shortage and can keep you busy every weekend.
The AppleUmpkin Festival in Wyoming,
Pumpkin Fiesta in Niagara Falls or
The Great Pumpkin Farm Fall Festival in Clarence are full of craft vendors, delicious food, non-stop musical entertainment and baking contests.
There are also plenty of events to scare you silly.
FrightFest at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort has a terroriffic ride on a renegade bus through the black forests of Darien. The ghosts are back at
The Haunted Fortress where you can meet spirits of the past in the dark and frightening corridors of Old Fort Niagara. Take a Candlelit Cemetery Tour at The Batavia Cemetery where costumed actors portraying historic Batavians give you a look at Batavia’s haunted past.
Mason Winfield has 6 Ghost Walks you can choose from in Buffalo. Your walk will be filled with history, architecture, mystery, parapsychology, occultism and ghosts.
The wine connoisseurs aren’t going to want to miss the
Hallowine Niagara Wine Trail Event. Celebrate Halloween with a murder mystery! Collect the clues at each winery on the trail. Your ticket includes wine tasting at each winery, a commemorative wine glass and enough information to solve the crime.
Some would say that it’s all about the food. We here in the Greater Niagara Region are no stranger to that term. If you agree, then you will enjoy a stop at
Watt Farms in Albion for their Apple Harvest Brunch with an apple pancake buffet, french toast, meat, eggs and biscuits & gravy. While you are at
Watt Farms, you can take a ride on the Orchard Train to learn how modern orchards are operated and pick your own apples from the orchard. The Perry Farmers’ Market has weekly farm vendors, live music, arts, crafts and live demonstrations.
And we haven’t forgotten the fall foliage in the Greater Niagara Region. The best way to see Western New York’s most beautiful colors is through the window on a relaxing train ride!
The Fall Foliage Train Excursion is a 2 hour round trip along the Historic Erie Canal. You’ll get a chance to view rural Americana, small villages, farms and Lockport’s canal locks. The train ride also includes a tour of the largest New York railroad depot museum, Medina Railroad Museum.
