Whiteface Mountain, Wilmington/Lake Placid, area has a 4,872-foot summit that can be reached via Memorial Highway. The breathtaking Gondola Sky Ride at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center offers unique views of the Adirondack High Peaks, and the Olympic Region, as it climbs to the top of Little Whiteface peak.

Prospect Mountain in Lake George, off Route 9, offers vistas of Lake George and a 100-mile view of five states from a 2,030-foot summit.

Celebrate the Adirondack Harvest! 

The season-long Adirondack Harvest celebration provides visitors with opportunities to meet farmers, visit farms, taste products and become Adirondack Harvest members. Members receive special mailings, dinner invitations, and various premiums from an Adirondack Harvest apron to the Three Farms DVD, gift baskets and the Adirondack Harvest Cookbook with lots of great ideas for serving local foods.

September 20 is the 4th Annual Cream Cheese Festival in downtown Lowville at Kraft Foods largest cream cheese manufacturing plan in the world. Enjoy the world’s largest cheesecake, contests, entertainment, artists, Children’s Discovery Park, raffles.: 315-376-8688

The Lewis County Chamber of Commerce Fall Foliage Tour on October 4, 11am-4pm, Lowville Dairy Producers Cooperative,
 Lowville, (next to the giant cow!) is where you’ll find  they’ve “got good cheese” and cheese curd made with local milk, maple products, Croghan bologna, and many locally made goodies. 315-376-5270, 376-3921

Fall Fests continue at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake October 4-5, 10am - 5pm, where you can fall into the fun at the second annual Adirondack Harvest Festival with hands-on activities, music, and demonstrations. 518/352-7311
